LONGITUDE, the yacht, was a 12 metre ocean racer. The plan was to design and construct a yacht to successfully compete at the highest level on the Australian ocean racing scene. The yacht was launched in December 1998 and went on to win (line honours and on handicap) the Melbourne to Hobart Yacht Race and the top division of the famous Hamilton Island Race Week in 1999. Longitude also competed in the Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race, the most gruelling two-handed yacht race in the world. LONGITUDE II is now sailing from the Royal Yacht Club of Victoria after completing the Hamilton Island Race Week in August 2005. It is a retrofit of the iconic Sportscar that raced on Port Phillip Bay for more than a decade.
